Even though not everything is alright.

There are things I still haven't managed to resolve. There are things I've been waiting for for a long time. Some things hurt. Some things I've lost. And there are questions I may never get an answer to.

But this morning, I woke up.

My heart is beating. I'm breathing. I can get out of bed. I can look out the window. I can feel the sun on my face. I can have a cup of coffee. I can call someone I love. I can work. I can laugh. I can still change something.

These are such ordinary things that we hardly even notice them.

Until one of them is suddenly gone.

We often think we'll be grateful once everything finally falls into place.

Once we finally reach the place we should have arrived at long ago.

But life keeps passing by in the meantime.

And perhaps, while you're focusing on everything you still lack, you don't even notice how much you already have.

I'm not where I'd like to be in every aspect of my life either.

But I'm no longer where I once was.

I'm on my journey, just as you are. We're making our way home.

I've survived things I once thought would break me. I've made bad decisions. I've started over. I've hit rock bottom. I've picked myself up. I've lost people. I've found others. And along the way, I've changed too.

So today, I'm not saying thank you because my life is perfect.

I'm saying thank you because it's mine.

Because I'm still here, living it.

And as long as I'm here, my story isn't over yet.
